Delbar Shahbaz


Born 1978 in Tehran, Delbar Shahbaz has been painting since she was fourteen. As well as studying Biomedical Engineering at Shahid Beheshti Tehran University, she also completed courses in painting, art history and illustration, and became a member of the Society of Iranian Painters (SIP), in 2004. Her painting is related to all her dreams, from her childhood until now. As well as her colourful artistic career, Delbar is also a journalist, writing mainly about new art. In the past, she has covered children’s wall painting in Tehran, interviewed Italian illustrators, spoken with Ukrainian graphic designers, reported on sculpture symposiums and researched religious posters. Delbar is also the translator in Farsi of the book Muslim Painter and the Divine (1982), by Sarwat Okasha.

She participated in a number of exhibitions worldwide, and in Candlestar's Masques of Shahrazad in particular. Her awards include the World AWARD Of Monotheistic Religions, 2007, and First Prize for the Iranian Women’s Workshop, 2007.
