Mischa Hallerʼs reportage and portrait photography focuses on details and moments that encapsulate a bigger picture of daily life. At times quirky and humorous, his work highlights the pathos of human existence and the poignancy of time spent watching or waiting or hoping.

Photography

2010-2011 Pictet & Cie corporate commission to create artwork inspired by the trading floor of the private bank

2009-present Worked in conjunction with branding consultant thinking place and graphic designer Peter Anderson Studios to create a series of images re-branding towns including Rochdale, Dun Laoghaire and Holyhead

2008-present On-going project‚ 'Waiting Game', examining the ubiquituous aspects of how people wait and queue in Britain today; preview published in The Times Magazine

2006-2007 Followed five emerging artists, documenting their working practice and lives in Japan, Poland, Switzerland, USA and Argentina to produce catalogue and exhibition for 'UBS Young Art'

2003-2005 Commission by the Mount Stuart Trust Visual Arts Programme to create an exhibition and book, both called 'on Bute', about the community on the Isle of Bute, Scotland

2005 Courtauld Institute of Art commission to take a portrait of the artist Richard Wilson and his family

2002-2004 Portrait series entitled 'In Between' featuring swimmers after swimming, and workers after working in frozen food distribution warehouses

2002 Self-published book of portrait and reportage essays entitled 'off chance'. Included a day in the life of a minicabbie, a bank holiday at the race track and the culture of shopping in Cape Town

1997-2004 Extensive travel in Africa. Several trips to Rwanda for Die Zeit to photograph orphans of war, and a book project about the griots (oral historians) in Senegal

2009 Pop-up gallery show, 'RePlace' co-curated with Liz Helman showing work of six contemporary artists responding to the concept 'the ever-changing urban environments that are replaced; reinvented; reconstructed and re-arranged.
