Mohammad Mosavat
Born in 1983 in Tehran, Mohammad Mosavat studied at the Azad University. His paintings are always richly coloured, full of purples, greens and olives. While the careful balance of these tones seem typically Persian, the representation of decomposing heads are reminiscent of Francis Bacon's work. The contrast created by the disembodied figures dissolving into a colourful, semi-abstract space, produces an intriguing and mysterious effect on the viewer.
Despite his young age, Mosavat has already had a couple of solo exhibitions, and has participated in a number of group shows. He is one of Candlestar's youngest, most promising artists.
