Morteza Darehbaghi
Born in 1969 in Tehran, Morteza Darehbaghi studied in the Azad University. His style has evolved throughout his career, and is now defined by the use of shadowy shapes and dark colours. He also works as an installation artist. His current work is generally conceptual and abstract, but, as he puts it, "an interest in tradition" always permeates.
Darehbaghi is s a member of the Management Assembly of the Corcoran Museum of Art, Washington DC. He has held 19 solo exhibitions and has participated in more than 40 group shows worldwide, including Candlestar's Whispered Secrets, Murmured Dreams in the Mall Gallery, London. He is also the recipient of numerous awards including the first prize at the 4th Tehran Painting Biennial.
