Pooya Aryanpour
Born in Tehran in 1971, Pooya Aryanpour studied at the School of Plastic Arts and at the Azad University in his native city. His distinctive style is characterised by the use of white shapes which can be interpreted as a sort of conceptual, symbolic calligraphy, set against dark backgrounds, creating a sense of suspense and mystery. He himself calls his creations "accidental events".
He has held solo exhibitions in Sweden and Iran, and has participated in a number of group shows internationally, including Whispered Secrets, Murmuring Dreams. Candlestar has helped him become a renowned artist sold in the most prestigious auction houses.
