Shahriar Tavakoli
Born in 1969 in Tehran, Shahriar Tavakoli studied photography at the Art University in Tehran. His colour images of his family present a domestic world of intimacy, warmth and delicacy. They display a sensitive touch and a wry tone, as in the sprightly colour and pattern in the couch upon which the father dozes or reads, accompanied by his grand-daughter. Yet these photographs, too, reveal an awareness of artifice at work, for they are candid, as the black backdrops and the mirror in a group shot makes clear.
He has exhibited in many shows worldwide, including Candlestar's Whispered Secrets, Murmuring Dreams.
