Susan Gunn


Susan Gunn gained a First Class BA Honours degree in Fine Art at Norwich School of Art and Design. She was the winner of the prestigious Bishops Prize for Painting in 2003 and was the recipient of an Escalator award from Arts Council England East in 2005, which recognises and supports the most promising emerging and established artists living and working in the East of England. Her work has been exhibited in Europe and the UK; acquired by Archant for their National Collection, Arts Council England, and by the Sovereign International Art Foundation.
Her work has featured in the ‘Monochromed’ exhibition at the Fine Art Society Gallery; Bond St. London, in September 2006 alongside works by artists, Damien Hirst, Yves Klein, & Lucio Fontana. A catalogue accompanies the exhibition. She held a successful solo exhibition at the Ethna Dillon, Cotman Road space in Norwich in 2006; recent projects include Salthouse 07 and Open Studios, in conjunction with the Norfolk & Norwich festival 07.

In 2006 Susan Gunn was named as the winner of the Sovereign European Art Prize 06, nominated by Escalator Curator, Cherry Smyth (London) and Artist, Colin Self (Norfolk).   The selection was made from over 200 nominated artists from over 22 European countries by an eminent panel of European curators chaired by Sir Peter Blake.  She has also been employed as an Arts reviewer/critic for the Eastern Daily Press, and sits on the Arts Council England, East as artist’s member and advocate for the Arts in the East. She is a selector/nominator for Axis MA Graduates programme and a judge on the Sovereign European Arts Prize 2007 select panel, held at Bonhams, New Bond St. London.  Most recently she has exhibited in London in 'Art for Life', a group show and sale to benefit Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
