Whispered Secrets, Murmuring Dreams

I dream my life
I live my dream
I live reality

Whispered Secrets, Murmuring Dreams, marked the inauguration of a collaboration between Candlestar and the Day Art Gallery (Tehran) with the aim to provide an important international platform for artists from Iran.

The exhibition ran from 8-17 April 2008 at the Mall Galleries in London. It brought together over forty works of painting and photography in order to celebrate the unique voices and dreamscapes created by artists working in Iran today.

‘Whispered Secrets, Murmuring Dreams’ features artists who have been making work for the three decades since the Iranian revolution. It presented the murmuring dreams and secrets that the past is whispering in the ears of each of the participating artists. Each of the works started from a different place, each drew on a different interpretation of past - in many cases an extremely personal interpretation moderated by a thoroughly modern point of view. Exhibiting artists included Sadegh Tirafkan, Pooya Aryanpour and Shahriar Tavakoli.
