Prix Pictet
Candlestar has worked closely with the Geneva based private bank Pictet & Cie to design and build the Prix Pictet which launched in 2008. As well as acting as the Secretariat for the award and Prix Pictet Ltd, we manage all of the administrative, artistic, logistical and curatorial aspects of the Prix Pictet award and the global exhibition tour.
The Prix Pictet is the world’s first prize dedicated to photography and sustainability. It has a unique mandate – to use the power of photography to communicate crucial messages to a global audience; and it has a unique goal – art of the highest order that responds to the immense social and environmental threats of the new millennium.
The prize currently plays to a global audience of over 400 million. The exhibitions of photographs shortlisted for the first three cycles of the Prix Pictet have toured the world, so far they have been shown in Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Dubai, Dublin, Eindhoven, Geneva, Paris, Hong Kong, Lausanne, London, Madrid, Milan, Moscow, New Delhi, San Diego, Thessaloniki and Washington.
Each year the award is centered on a distinct theme, the inaugural theme was Water, followed by Earth and Growth. The fourth theme of the Prix is Power.
