Communications and Marketing


Effective communication is at the heart of everything we do. We develop tailor made communications strategies based on research with stakeholder groups and advise on the recruitment, selection and training of staff. We are particularly adept at media relations and stakeholder relationships, turning round adverse public perceptions and helping organisations to celebrate their achievements.

Our marketing expertise is underpinned by 25 years of experience for education clients in the production and implementation of marketing strategies and the development of new markets, including advice and support on working with international institutions to build networks, facilitate research and drive student recruitment.

The Candlestar team has developed comprehensive communications strategy for the Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) and  the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). Both strategies embraced every aspect of the organisation’s communications from website to media performance and stakeholder relations to public affairs. Acting on behalf of both organisations we brokered strategic partnerships with the Times Higher Education Supplement and for the ACU, we provided intensive, dedicated communications services at major international events including the meeting of Commonwealth Education Ministers in Cape Town. We have also developed and run highly effective global communications strategies for The Complete University Guide (for whom we brokered media partnerships with The Daily Telegraph and The Independent), INTO University Partnerships and UCTV.
