New Art Prize for Iranian artists
The prize aims to provide young Iranian artists around the world with a global platform to develop, consolidate and showcase their artistic abilities. The list of artists shortlisted for the Prize will be announced at the Magical Nights in Dubai Auction Gala, and an exhibition of shortlisted works will be held at the Royal College of Art in London in time to coincide with the opening of the Frieze Art Fair in October 2009. A final winner will then be chosen by the jury and will be awarded the opportunity for a solo exhibition at a major London gallery. Prize entry is by nomination only and will be judged by an international panel of distinguished names, including Sheena Wagstaff (chief curator at Tate Modern), Julia Peyton Jones (director of the Serpentine), and leading Iranian artists Parviz Tanavoli (sculptor), Shirin Neshat (artist), and Abbas Kiarostami (film director/artist).
