Artist in residence programme development

Candlestar has been appointed by the Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment (SSEE) at the University of Oxford to develop the School’s first Climate Change Artist in Residence Programme.

The Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment is a unique interdisciplinary hub where academics from around the world work with both the private sector and government to pioneer solutions to the major environmental challenges of the 21st century.Pivoting on the issue of climate change, the residency programme will enable the participating artist to engage with the School’s work over a 12-month period. By attempting to move beyond established visual narratives, the residency will focus on highlighting the real efforts made to tackle climate change, which often may not lend themselves to easy visual interpretation.

During the residency, the artist will participate in international meetings and conferences and engage in dialogue with students, staff and visitors at Oxford University. The artist’s ongoing work will be showcased on a dedicated website and the residency is due to conclude with a large public manifestation in August 2010.
