Brighton Museum Acquires Iranian Art Collection

Since 2008, Candlestar has been advising collectors, art institutions and museums on the acquisition of contemporary Iranian art. Most recently we have been working with Brighton & Hove Museum to set up their collection of Iranian art.

Fariba Farshad, director of Candlestar, advised the Museum on how to introduce a collection of Iranian art into their fine art collection, which is comparable to the National Gallery, and contains some 2,000 paintings.

After reviewing the portfolios of a number of Iranian artists, Brighton & Hove Museum chose to invest in works by established photographer Sadegh Tirafkan, calligraphy artist Ebrahim Olfat, and photographer Nader Davoodi.
