Sotheby's Arab and Iranian Art Auction
Sotheby’s is pleased to announce its sale of Contemporary Arab and Iranian Art in London, 19 October 2009. Candlestar are working with Sotheby’s in an advisory capacity to ensure that the sale includes work from the very best contemporary Iranian artists working inside Iran.
Sotheby’s 2008 auction of Modern and Contemporary Iranian Art totaled over £3 million, and included the sales of Candlestar’s young artists Darioush Gharazad and Tahereh Samadi Tari.
Parviz Tanavoli’s Heech Jewellery, exclusive to Candlestar, was also launched at the 2008 auction. Models dressed by the acclaimed Iranian designer Shirin Guild, wore items of Tanavoli’s jewellery whilst circulating amongst the crowd who enjoyed traditional Persian refreshments and music.
Sotheby’s most recent sale of Arts of the Islamic World, was held in Doha on 19 March 2009. This sale exceeded $3 million, proving that interest in Middle Eastern Art is still high, despite the global economy.
