Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition 2013

Candlestar’s Director, Michael Benson was appointed to curate the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition following the acclaimed curatorial success of the 2012 edition. The Sony World Photography Awards is one of the leading photography awards in the world, it comprises categories such as Architecture, Arts & Culture, Current Affairs, Fashion, Lifestyle, Nature & Wildlife, Portraiture or Travel. Candlestar acted as consultant to the World Photography Organisation in order to produce and curate the Exhibition from shortlisted and winning photographs from 15 professional categories, an Open Competition, National, Youth and Student Awards, as well as the Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award.

The Exhibition took place at Somerset House between 26 April to 12 May 2013. This year’s exhibition included a special display of work by the iconic photographer William Eggleston who received the Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award the past 25 April. In addition to this, every year, Sony produced an outstanding book featuring the winners’ best photographs, an introduction and texts from the jury members.
