Prix Pictet Conversations on Photography at Whitechapel Gallery
Another edition of Prix Pictet Conversations on Photography at the Whitechapel Gallery will take place on Thursday 16 January 2014. The discussion will be led by Tate curator Andrew Wilson and the guest will be the successful photographer Richard Mosse. The discussion will be focussed on aesthetics, conflict and his particular use of the camera. Mosse uses Kodak Aerochrome film to photograph conflict and its relationship with landscape. The infrared film gives spectacular blocks of colour, rich in pinks and reds throwing us into an hallucinogenic and surreal world.
Richard Mosse represented Ireland at the 55th Venice Biennale art survey with his multimedia installation The Enclave – depicting Congolese war zones through the use of discontinued military surveillance film.
