Born in Tehran in 1983, Mohammad Mosavat studied at the Azad University. His paintings contain rich colours with generous use of warm red and purple tones, earthly tones of ochre and olive greens. Set against the careful balance of these tones, decomposed heads and torsos create a clear reminiscence of Francis Bacon’s paintings. The contrast created by the disembodied figures dissolving into a colourful, semi-abstract space, produces an intriguing and mysterious effect on the viewer.
Mohammad has had a couple of solo exhibitions and also participated in a number of group shows. He is one of Candlestar’s youngest and most promising artists.
