Yassi Golshani is an Iranian artist who was born in Hamburg. She grew up in Iran until 1996 when she moved to Paris. She discovered contemporary art while studying at the Sorbonne. Her works are influenced by the hardships she sustained in Iran, hardships which were not only limited to her but shared by a whole population. Through her works, Yassi talks for herself as well as for a collective memory.
She has exhibited in France and Iran, and one of her works has been part of the permanent exhibition at the Sergey Parajanov Museum in Erevan, Armenia, since 1994. In 2005, Yassi received a UNESCO grant to work as a Fellow at the Civitella Ranieri Foundation, Italy.
